Wonder Women Faith Reminder: Love is What Wins in the Final Curtain Call by Babs Kincaid

“The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD. “
Proverbs 21:31

Good versus evil is a common plot that drives the box office to attract viewers to the big screen. Recently, I was so intrigued to see Wonder Woman to satisfy my passion for justice and adventure. I love a good movie that is filled with courage, cause, and some comedy even if it is only make-believe. I love the riveting drama that leads the heroine to forsake everything for the good of mankind. It always reminds me of my Savior Jesus. It is written: “For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.” Luke 19:10To my surprise and delight the movie ended with a seismic one liner! The beautiful warrior princess, Israeli actress, and model Gal Gadot after battling evil throughout the movie came to this astounding conclusion: “Love is what wins!” Bravo!!!!!  Think about it! “Love is what wins!”  Think about it! “God is love.” 1 John 4:8 That gives me tremendous hope! God is who wins in the last battle on earth because “Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:8

Love is what wins reminded me of the final chapter of the Bible, Revelation 16 when the final battle of Armageddon is fought and won by God. Check it out: “Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven and from the throne, saying, “It is done!” Revelation 16:17 No wonder Jesus is called the Alpha and the Omega “I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” Revelation 22:13

John Eldridge* said in his book Beautiful Outlaw: “it is so important for you to look at the world the way Jesus did – as a vicious battle with evil.” Jesus said “In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer for I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 According to Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance the Greek word for overcome (3528) means “conquered, get the victory and to subdue.” In other words, rejoice for Jesus has subdued and conquered the world and gotten the victory. Now that is good news!!!! Here is more good news as the scripture says “He who covers a transgression seeks love,” Proverbs 17:9 Jesus covered our sin with his blood because his goal was love. Jesus wanted to reconcile us to God. “But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy, unblemished, and blameless in His presence.” Colossians 1:22 Think about that! That nails the profound thought that “Love is what wins!”

The final showdown on earth is coming so seeking God’s Kingdom is our refuge from the storm. “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.”  Matthew 6:33 You have seen the news. The drumbeat is getting louder. The fires are getting hotter. The bombs are getting stronger! The hate is on the increase. The rage is intensifying. The bombs are multiplying!  As soldiers of Jesus Christ we must fight the good fight of faith and remember this verse: “You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” 2 Timothy 2:3 No one really wants to hear about hardship, but we need to be faithful to God’s higher cause.  But the good word declares: “Oh LORD God of our fathers, are you not God in Heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. In your hand are power and might so that none is able to withstand you.” 2 Chronicles 20:6 Did you note the word “none” as in “none is able to withstand you.”  God is a mighty warrior and supreme in authority, wisdom, and strategy! “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all! 1 Chronicles 29:11    Did you catch the statement that the heavens and the earth belong to God? And for those who have committed to follow Christ this blessing is given: “No in all these things we are more than conqueror’s through him who loved us.” Romans 8:37 According to Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance the Greek word conqueror means “gain a decisive victory.” Another commanding promise to claim in troubling times is this: “With God, we will gain the victory and he will trample down our enemy.” Psalm 60:12 Since God’s love lives in all his believers, love is what wins for them. Think about this verse: “for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, our faith.” 1 John 5:4 Consider this amazing concept: “For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” Deuteronomy 20:4 So are you getting the theme now, is the victory for God’s people?

Since Love is what wins, what does this all mean for us right now? Hebrews has the best answer to this question that I can find: “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works…and so much the more as we see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:23-24 I want to walk worthy of the one who has rescued me out of the darkness and brought into the eternal light. “God is love, and who abides in love abides in God and God in him.” 1 John 4:16b

All my gratitude goes to God “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our LORD Jesus Christ! 1 Corinthians 15:57 Love is what wins in the final curtain call!
