Letting Go and Letting God Brings Uplifting Hope for the Brokenhearted by Babs Kincaid

Letting Go Brings Uplifting Hope for The

Brokenhearted by Babs Kincaid

A broken heart often exists because a follower of Christ has family members and friends who do not have a relationship with Jesus. God has given His children a desire for a family bonded together in His love. Christ has the only love to offer that does not fail. No wonder it is written: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in the truth.”3 John 1:4 When I made the decision to follow Christ, I received unmeasurable love, peace, and joy that I wanted all my family and friends to share with me. I desperately wanted to give the extraordinary gift of love away that I had generously received. It was heartbreaking to discover that many people were not interested in receiving this transformational and Heavenly gift. It is well written: “But by the sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.” Proverbs 15:13b It broke my heart and I realized that only Christ himself could repair my wounded heart and give me hope.
The good news is that Jesus is passionate and fully equipped to heal any broken heart and implant faith that moves mountains! Check it out: Jesus said “He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted;” Luke 4:18b Wow, God sent Jesus to heal the brokenhearted! What a beautiful mission of life-changing hope! According to Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, this Greek word for heal (2390) means “to cure or make whole.” Jesus has the cure for the broken hearted! Consider these two scriptures to give you even more comfort:
*    The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart.” Psalm 34:18 The truth is God is close to his children when they are hurting not far away.
*    Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb?...Yet I will never forget you, See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands;...” Isaiah 49:15-16a  The truth is Jesus has, even more, compassion and commitment to you, your children and your loved ones. His shed his blood to prove it! He has a constant reminder close to his body of all the people He died for.

Here is a beautiful example of God as the Great Physician restoring broken hearts. Billy Graham wrote a devotion entitled “The Healer of our Broken Hearts” in which he told a story about David Jeremiah’s broken heart experience. “David Jeremiah wrote about a painful time that he experienced when his daughter experimented with cocaine at the Christian school where he was president. He wrote, “The feelings that overwhelmed me…were unlike anything in my previous experience…Nothing in my life had prepared me for the initial shock and the resulting pain of the days and months that followed.  David Jeremiah’s daughter was loved through her problems, and she became a great witness to the healing powers of God.”  Did you notice one of the key ingredients to her deliverance? She was loved through her problems. He didn’t say she was lectured through her problems. She was loved through her problems. Jesus said: “These things I command you, that you love one another” John 15:17 God’s word says: “Do everything in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14 Love lets go of the need to fix and change other people and moves out of God’s way. “The High and Lofty one who inhabits eternity” Isaiah 57:17b is the only one who can heal a wounded heart. “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you.” Psalm 55:22  We surrender our cares to God and He as the Healer takes charge of our needs. Letting go of others and letting God move is the heart of loving others. The LORD is the one who restores our soul and the souls of our loved ones. “He restores my soul.” Psalm 23:3 The good news is that when we pray according to his will he hears us. “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15What an awesome God! “By awesome deeds in righteousness, you will answer us, Oh, God of our salvation.” Psalm 65:5

What does letting go of someone you love, look like? When someone you love goes to the hospital for surgery, you don’t run into the operating room and say “Here I am, let me take over, I have a better plan for you!” No, you accept the help of the expert physician to do what he does best. You trust the physician and patiently pray and wait hopefully for the best results.  Did you get the picture God does the major surgery not you? “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3 That is a promise we can count on!

Perhaps while you are letting go of others, God can give you a new vision of something He wants to birth in you!

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or think…to him be the glory.” Ephesians 3:20a-21a
